Thermal

Our blown-in TAP insulation is made of a recycled paper mixture that keeps the heat in and the cold out in winter, and the cool air in and the heat out in summer. TAP insulation can save you up to 30% on your heating and cooling bills each year.

Acoustic

In addition to its energy-saving properties, TAP insulation also provides acoustic benefits. Loud noises from outside have trouble penetrating TAP insulation, keeping your home a quieter, more peaceful place to spend time.

Pest Control

TAP insulation is coated with a borate substance that helps prevent pests from infesting. When pests get into the insulation and ingest the borate, they are unable to survive.

The attic is the easiest place in your home to add insulation in order to increase comfort and reduce energy costs. Improperly insulated attics account for 28% of heating loss in a one-story house, so it’s easy to see how making this one change can dramatically change your home’s energy efficiency.

How Can You Tell If Your Attic Is Properly Insulated?

Regardless of the type of insulation you have in your attic, it’s fairly easy to determine if you need more. Simply look across your attic to see if the insulation is below, level with, or above the floor joists. If you can easily see the floor joists, you need more insulation for your attic. If you can’t easily see the floor joists, you probably have enough.

While checking your insulation, you should also see if the level is uniform throughout the attic. You may often have an ample amount in the center of the attic, but barely any along the eaves. A properly insulated attic will have a similar level all the way through.

Pest Free NRV will inspect your attic to determine if you have the sufficient amount of insulation for your home. During the inspection, we’ll also check the attic for any air leaks and to see if it has proper ventilation.

How Much Insulation Should I Add?

Insulation levels are specified by R-Value. R-Value is a measure of insulation’s ability to resist heat flow. The higher the R-Value, the better the thermal performance of the insulation. The recommended level for most attics is to insulate to R-38 or about 10 to 14 inches, depending on insulation type.
